Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath participated in the Raisina Dialogue 2026 held in New Delhi on Thursday (5).

According to Indian media reports, the visit highlighted the longstanding relationship between India and Sri Lanka, underpinned by cultural ties and extensive people-to-people connections.

Herath’s participation in the forum reflects continuing engagement between the two neighbouring countries on regional and global issues. India and Sri Lanka maintain cooperation across several areas including diplomacy, trade, cultural exchanges and strategic collaboration.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, one of India’s key international conferences on geopolitics and global policy.

The keynote address was delivered by President of Finland Dr. Alexander Stubb, who said the Global South would play a decisive role in shaping the next global order, with India expected to be a significant factor in that process.

The theme of this year’s dialogue is “Saṁskāra – Assertion, Accommodation, Advancement.”
