Ugandan lady nabbed with 100 cocaine pills in her stomach at BIA

Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Control Division officers yesterday nabbed a Ugandan lady at the Bandaranaike International Airport with cocaine in her stomach. Customs said the 45-year-old Ugandan woman arrived in Sri Lanka at 9 a.m. on Qatar Airways flight QR 664 from Uganda via Doha, and was found with a consignment of cocaine hidden in her stomach. Due to suspicion during the interrogation at the exit gate of the BIA, Katunayake, it was decided to search her using the Passenger Scan machine.

Customs said during the search, it was revealed that the cocaine was hidden in the woman’s abdomen. At the time, she admitted that she had swallowed 100 pills containing cocaine in her abdomen, and so far, 51 pills have been removed. The woman is to be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau after further investigations by the Customs Narcotics Division.
