The United National Party and the Ceylon Workers’ Congress have reached an electoral agreement to contest in the Local Government election.

Former Minister Navin Dissanayake stated the UNP and the CWC will run as an alliance in the Nuwara Eliya District, during a media conference at the UNP headquarters in Sirikotha yesterday. 

As per Dissanayake, the two parties have agreed to contest under the ‘elephant’ symbol in nine to 10 Local Government bodies while under the ‘fowl symbol’ in 11 to 12 Pradeshiya Sabhas.

“This electoral pact will be advantageous for both parties,” Dissanayake said.
