Trump nominates Eric Meyer as US Ambassador to Sri Lanka

The White House has nominated Eric Meyer, a seasoned American diplomat from California, to serve as the next US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

US President Donald Trump has officially submitted Meyer’s nomination to the US Senate for confirmation.

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Meyer currently serves as the Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. 

In this role, he oversees the Bureau’s operations and coordinates US policy priorities across a wide region, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
