Three COVID-19 deaths bring total fatalities to 453

Health authorities yesterday confirmed three COVID-19 deaths, which brought the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 453.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, a 75-year-old individual from Wattala tested positive for COVID-19 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and was transferred to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. However, he died of COVID pneumonia on 22 February.

The previous day, an 83-year-old individual from Walapane died of COVID pneumonia and trauma of blood poisoning while receiving treatment at the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital.

On 20 February, an individual from Nuwara Eliya died of COVID-19 while receiving treatment at the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital. The individual was 76 years old.
