An inter-religious prayer service and candle lighting ceremony was held for the Global Sumud Flotilla’s Spring Mission for Gaza 2026, where Sameera Mehboobdeen will represent Sri Lanka in the endeavour to break through the siege in Palestine and deliver much-needed aid to suffering civilians. Palestinian Ambassador Ihab I.M. Khalil (left) and Deputy Speaker MP Dr. Rizvie Salih, together with Mehboobdeen (centre), lit candles for the voyage’s success.
