The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI) of Sri Lanka and the Foreign Services Institution of the Republic of Maldives.

The agreement aims to foster mutual cooperation and deepen bilateral understanding in the field of diplomatic training. Under the MoU, both institutions will exchange information on academic programs, facilitate the exchange of scholars and resource persons for seminars, and share expertise in areas of common interest.

Additionally, the agreement will provide opportunities for diplomatic officers from both countries to participate in specialised training programs and jointly organise training courses and seminars in Colombo and Malé.

The proposal to this effect, presented by Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
