Sri Lanka and Guatemala to establish political consultation mechanism through new MoU

The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Ministry and the Guatemala Foreign Affairs Ministry to establish a formal political consultation mechanism between the two countries.

The MoU will be valid for an initial period of five years and will provide a structured platform for regular diplomatic engagement.

The proposed agreement aims to promote, strengthen, and expand bilateral relations across a wide range of areas, including political dialogue, economic collaboration, consular affairs, cultural exchange, and technological cooperation.

The mechanism is expected to enhance bipartisan ties and open new avenues for strategic cooperation between the two countries.
