The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday that Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra held a telephone discussion on 18 September with his Ukrainian counterpart, Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister and National Commission for UNESCO Head Mariana Betsa.
The Ministry said both officials reviewed cooperation between the two countries in bilateral and multilateral forums, noting recent reciprocal support extended toward each other’s candidatures to United Nations bodies.
According to the statement, Hemachandra briefed Betsa on recent developments in Sri Lanka and conveyed the Government’s interest in deepening relations with Ukraine.
The conversation also covered opportunities for further collaboration in areas of mutual interest, reflecting the shared commitment to strengthening ties, the Ministry added.
