A special Iftar ceremony, organised to mark the holy month of Ramadan, was held last week at the Presidential Secretariat, with the participation of Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
The event was jointly organised by the Presidential Secretariat and the Welfare Association of the Presidential Secretariat.
A special lecture on the significance of the month of Ramadan was delivered by M.F.A. Nufail Moulavi.
Following a special prayer led by A.N. Ubaidullah, the breaking of the fast commenced at 6:23 p.m., after which a special dinner was served.
Dr. Kumanayake said that the Presidential Secretariat holds a prominent place within Sri Lanka’s public sector and extended greetings on the occasion of the Iftar gathering to the entire Muslim community on behalf of the staff of the Presidential Secretariat.
He further noted that, as a multi-ethnic country, Sri Lanka continues to respect and appreciate the diverse cultures of its people. He added that the celebration of Ramadan stands as a special occasion that reflects the spirit of national harmony among the Sri Lankan people.
