Speaker holds bilateral talks in India on Parliamentary cooperation

Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne has made his maiden official visit to India to participate in the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth, currently underway in New Delhi.

On the sidelines of the Conference, Dr. Wickramaratne yesterday held a bilateral meeting with Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla, during which the two leaders discussed ways to further deepen Parliamentary exchanges between Sri Lanka and India. 

In a post via ‘X,’ the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka noted that the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two legislatures and enhancing engagement between the Parliamentary institutions of the two democracies.
