South Asia Chief Commissioners of Scout to gather in Colombo for first time

The Sri Lanka Scout Association will host the South Asian Association of National Scout Organisations (SAANSO) Chief Commissioners’ Conference for the first time in the country’s history. The event will take place tomorrow at the National Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, Colombo 02.

The conference will be graced by senior officials from the World Scout Bureau and the Asia-Pacific Regional Support Centre of WOSM, alongside the Chief Commissioners of all eight SAANSO member countries.

This landmark gathering aims to strengthen collaboration and engagement among National Scout Organisations (NSOs) in South Asia, fostering shared growth, regional solidarity, and a stronger collective voice in the Asia-Pacific Region and the global Scouting movement. It will also serve as a platform to encourage mutual participation in national programs, promote shared learning, and project a united South Asian Scouting presence.

At present, Chief Commissioner of Bhutan Sangye Choden serves as the Chairperson of SAANSO. At the conclusion of the Colombo conference, the Chairmanship will be handed over to the host nation.

This conference is organised under the leadership of the Sri Lanka Scout Association Chief Commissioner and WOSM Consultant Attorney-at-Law Janaprith Fernando, together with the International Commissioner and his team.
