The six people arrested by the police for accepting bribes near the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) last Monday was remanded till 13 January.
Police had arrested the six in the act of accepting bribes near the Werehara branch of the DMT one day after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa paid an unannounced visit to the facility. Rajapaksa directed the department to pull their act together and provide efficient service to the public.
The arrests have been made based on a tip-off received by police intelligence personnel. The six who were arrested are believed to have been accepting bribes on behalf of other employees at the RMV.
