Colombo recently emerged as the vibrant hub for a pivotal global conversation on the future of evaluation, as about 200 people from 32 nations convened for the inauguration of the landmark Evaluation Conclave 2025 and the Summit for the Future of Evaluation.
This significant gathering unites Parliamentarians, representatives from international organisations, civil society leaders, academics, and young evaluation innovators for a crucial dialogue focused on shaping the future of evaluation to strengthen good governance, enhance accountability, and drive transformative change in people’s lives, amidst evolving global geopolitical dynamics and complex crises. Notably, inspired by the United Nations Pact for the Future, the Summit issues a compelling call for amplified global collaboration within the evaluation community.
The official inauguration of the Conclave and the Summit took place on 27 May 2025, with the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, stating, “Sri Lanka is proud to support such initiatives that foster global cooperation and knowledge sharing. The theme of the Conclave and the Summit, focusing on dialogue on the future of evaluation, is both timely and relevant at this critical juncture. As nations strive toward achieving sustainable development amidst rapid global changes, it becomes imperative to strengthen evaluation systems that are rooted in local realities, culturally sensitive, and globally informed.”
