Seneesa to represent Sri Lanka at ShakthiSAT International Mission

Sri Lanka will be represented at the ShakthiSAT International Mission by 18-year-old student Seneesa Goonewardena, following her selection through a national screening process, the Digital Economy Ministry said.

Goonewardena was selected from 200 Sri Lankan students currently undergoing specialised training under the national STEM education program.

According to the Ministry, her selection provides Sri Lanka with an opportunity to showcase its young scientific talent in advanced space technology while strengthening the country’s presence in international scientific collaboration.

The ShakthiSAT International Mission will be held from 22 to 31 August at Gautam Buddha University in India.

During the program, Goonewardena is scheduled to participate in engagements alongside the Prime Minister of India and the President of India.

The Digital Economy Ministry described the initiative as a transformative global opportunity that promotes innovation and international scientific cooperation.
