School essay competition from Sri Lanka-Thailand Society to commemorate 25th anniversary

Sri Lanka-Thailand Society has organised a school essay competition to commemorate its 25th anniversary.

The essay competition is open to G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level students of any school in Sri Lanka. ‘Sri Lanka-Thailand relations, past present and future’ is the theme for the competition which will be conducted in English medium.

All entries should be hand written and certified by the Principal or any other Head of the respective school. Meanwhile contestants are advised to limit their entries to a maximum of 1500 words.

Entries together with writer’s name, school, class, and age should be sent by registered post to Hon. Secretary, Sri Lanka-Thailand Society Secretary, 290/M, Weerasekera Mawatha, Thalawathugoda on or before 31 May.

The winners of the competition will be selected under two categories as it is targeted at both Advanced Level and Ordinary Level students. Accordingly, winners of the entries received from Advanced Level students would be awarded Rs. 25,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7,500 together with certificates as first, second and third prizes. The winners of the Ordinary Level category would receive Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7,500 and certificates as the three main prizes. In addition, each category will have ten merit awards that will also have certificates and consolation prizes.

Judging of the winners will be done by an independent panel of judges and their decision will be final. The winners will be notified individually by letter.
