Save the Children launches ‘Take-Home Rations’ program in Uva Province

The Take-Home Rations Distribution Program implemented by the NGO Save the Children was officially launched at Dambeyaya Primary School, Okkampitiya, Buttala in the Monaragala District, led by Uva Province Governor A.J.M. Muzammil.

This project was implemented in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding entered into between Save the Children organisation and the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health, for strengthening and improving the sustainability of the meal providing program for school children implemented by the Government in order to enhance the literacy and attention of school children.

During the COVID-19 crisis, the PALAM/A Project will assist approximately 110,000 students in 887 primary schools in Badulla, Kilinochichi, Monaragala, Mullaitivu, Nurawa Eliya, Ratnapura, and Trincomalee Districts

Uva Province Education Ministry Secretary Sandhya Ambanwala, Monaragala District Secretary Gunadasa Samarasinghe and heads of Save the Children gathered for this occasion.
