Sajith condemns suppression of media

The main Opposition, Samagi Jana Balawegaya, yesterday said it unconditionally stands for media freedom and right to information.

“We are against all types of restrictions, threats and censorships introduced against Media organisations. History clearly witnesses the fate and destiny of every ruler or Government that suppressed media,” SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa said. 

He was responding controversial remarks by Health Ministry Spokesman Dr. Hemantha Herath, stating that many of the journalist killed in the past were “third class” in response to questions asked by a journalist.
