The Government insists the upcoming Local Government (LG) elections must not be seen as one which will lead to a change of Government.

Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayake said that the Joint Opposition has the wrong impression about the Local Government elections.

“This election is not about changing a Government or appointing a President or a Prime Minister. This is about forming an administration for the village,” the Minister said.

Ratnayake told reporters that the public must work towards electing suitable people to work for their respective villages.

The Minister noted that the candidates must be those who are disciplined and have sound knowledge of their respective areas. (Colombo Gazette)
