Over remarks on alleged plot to assassinate IGP

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam was arrested yesterday by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) over remarks concerning an alleged plot to assassinate the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Kariyawasam had been summoned to appear before the CCIB at 10:30 a.m. yesterday in connection with the remarks and was arrested following his appearance.

He had earlier maintained that his comments concerning the IGP had been misinterpreted.
