SL to receive 15,000 Sputnik V second dose vaccines

Sri Lanka is due to receive 15,000 doses of the Sputnik V second dose products today, while it received a consignment of 124,020 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine yesterday.

Over 130,000 persons who received the first dose of Sputnik V are awaiting the second dose, with the first dose of the vaccine administered to 159,088 persons and the second dose administered to 25,489 persons.

The first dose of Pfizer has been administered to 306,374 persons and the second dose has been administered to 183,532 persons. This includes persons vaccinated on Sunday, when one person received the first dose of Pfizer, and 977 persons received the second dose of the vaccine.

On Sunday, 118,241 persons received a COVID-19 vaccine dose.

This includes 8,855 persons who received the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine and 93,715 persons who received the second dose of the vaccine. The Epidemiology Unit states that the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to a total of 9,718,191 persons and the second dose to 5,447,500 persons.

The first dose of AstraZeneca was administered to 1,391 persons on Sunday and the second dose of the vaccine was administered to 1,460 persons. In total, the first dose has been administered to 1,370,163 persons and the second dose to 884,479 persons.

Seven persons received the first dose, and 11,835 persons received the second dose of Moderna on Sunday. The Epidemiology Unit states that the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 771,471 persons, of which 632,120 have received the second dose as well.

In Sri Lanka, 12,325,737 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 7,173,120 persons have received both doses. This raises second dose coverage in the population over the age of 30 to 62.4%.

In the Western Province and Matale, Kandy, and Hambantota Districts, second dose coverage exceeds 70% in the population over the age of 30.

Meanwhile, Family Health Bureau Director Dr. Chithramali de Silva said 75% of pregnant women have been vaccinated. She added that the country’s COVID-19 fatalities include 32 pregnant women.
