SL receives 2.14 million doses of Sinopharm today

A batch of 2.14 million doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 is due to arrive in Sri Lanka today and another batch of 1.86 million doses of the vaccine is due to arrive on Sunday.

Sri Lanka is also due to receive 727,540 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine through the COVAX Facility on Saturday. The vaccine doses are the second half of a total of 1,456,000 doses donated by Japan.

As of Wednesday, Sri Lanka had administered the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to 10,616,683 persons and the second dose to 2,646,042 persons. Of the country’s population over the age of 30, 92.4% have received the first dose of a vaccine and 23% have received the second dose as well.

This includes the 197,349 persons vaccinated on Wednesday, of which 97,966 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 11,058 persons received the second dose of Sinopharm. In total, the first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 8,527,195 persons and the second dose to 1,823,802 persons.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 1,004,231 persons have received the first dose of AstraZeneca and 807,539 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine. On Wednesday, 30,499 persons received the first dose of the vaccine and 50,893 persons received the second dose of the vaccine.

Among persons vaccinated on Wednesday were 5,625 persons who received the first dose of Moderna, which has been administered to 723,361 persons in total.

The first dose of Pfizer was administered to 1,308 persons on Wednesday and a total of 202,815 persons have received the first dose of the vaccine to date. The second dose of Pfizer has been administered to 198 persons.

In addition to this, 159,081 persons have received the first dose of Sputnik V and 14,503 persons have received the second dose of Sputnik V.
