SJB will support any proposal against Deshabandu: Sajith

Opposition leader and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday affirmed that his party will support any proposals brought against the suspended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Thennakoon.

Speaking at an event, he alleged that Thennakoon was appointed as IGP in violation of the Constitution. Premadasa asserted that the SJB had strongly opposed the appointment from the outset.

He also said that the former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the former Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena are responsible for appointing Thennakoon to that position.
