Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko will arrive in Colombo tomorrow to participate in the 11th round of bilateral political consultations between Sri Lanka and the Russian Federation.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry said the visit is aimed at further strengthening longstanding diplomatic relations and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
During the consultations, officials are expected to discuss a wide range of areas including political engagement, economic cooperation, trade, tourism, energy, and regional and international developments of mutual
interest.
Rudenko’s visit comes close on the heels of Russian Energy Deputy Minister Roman Marshavin’s visit to Sri Lanka last week to discuss the possibility of supplying Russian fuel to Sri Lanka in the midst of the global energy shock.
According to President Dissanayake’s office, Marshavin said that Russia was prepared to support Sri Lanka face any challenge arising from the Middle East conflict, and that support would be in any form—not only in the energy sector but also through technical, machinery, and other means.
