The Cabinet Sub-Committee tasked with ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of the public service met for the second time yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat under Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, focusing on measures to sustain essential services and address operational constraints faced by public sector institutions.
Discussions centred on maintaining the continuous delivery of government services, particularly across key ministries including Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Health, Education, and Justice. The committee agreed that public examinations would proceed as scheduled, while steps would be taken to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential medicines to hospitals.
The meeting also reviewed disruptions in passenger and railway transport, alongside measures required to improve the movement of essential goods. Members examined current challenges in logistics and transport systems and considered immediate and medium-term responses.
Attention was further drawn to the introduction of digital service platforms to facilitate remote working and improve service efficiency, with oversight to be coordinated by the Ministry of Digital Economy.
The committee also directed a review of existing energy management practices across ministries and departments, with instructions to introduce necessary policy adjustments.

M. Udayanga Hemapala, Digital Economy Secretary T. R. W. S. Dhanapala, Justice Secretary Ayesha Jinasena, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Chairman D. J. A. S. S. Rajakaruna.
