Support from the private sector has been vital to the COVID-19 prevention program carried out by the Government, Health Minister Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi said yesterday.

The remarks were made at the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital, which received a PCR machine worth Rs. 500,000 as a donation from Sri Lanka Insurance yesterday.

“Private sector donations like this are a relief to the COVID-19 prevention program carried out by the Government. The country’s economy collapsed with the spread of COVID-19 and donations and support from the private sector strengthened health services so they could be carried out continually,” she said.

The donation of a PCR machine would expand COVID-19 testing measures, especially in the Ratnapura and Kegalle Districts.
