President Anura Kumara Disanayake capped off a busy visit to Jaffna on Monday with an inspection tour of Katchatheevu in a bid to affirm Sri Lanka’s sovereign claim over the island. Across the Palk Straits, Tamil Nadu politicians are ratcheting up the rhetoric opposing Sri Lanka’s claim. Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekar, Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala, and Sri Lanka Navy Northern Naval Area Commander Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage joined the President.
