President’s Fund expands reach with staff training in Northern Province

In a bid to expand equitable access to medical assistance across the country, the President’s Fund will conduct a specialised training program for Government officers in Northern Province to expand equitable access to medical assistance across the country.

As part of this initiative, a training program has been organised for 21 June at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat.

This session is intended for District Secretaries and subject officers handling matters related to the President’s Fund in the districts of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar and Vavuniya in the Northern Province.

With administrative functions of the President’s Fund now devolved to District Secretariat offices, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of medical assistance applications received from across the country.

To address this surge and streamline service delivery, staff members at the district level are being trained on a newly introduced computerised online system designed to improve efficiency and transparency.

The primary aim of the program is to equip officials with the technical know-how and procedural clarity to deliver higher quality services and ensure that a greater number of eligible individuals benefit from the Fund.

A key priority of the current President and the administration is to transform the President’s Fund, which was previously limited to a small group of recipients in Colombo, into a truly national initiative that benefits people throughout the country. In line with this vision, similar training programs are expected to be implemented in other provinces in the near future.
