President meets several more groups for all-party Govt. discussions

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) met President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the President’s Office yesterday to discuss the formation of an all-party Government.

The TNA group consisting of MPs M.A. Sumanthiran, Dharmalingam Siddharthan, Selvam Adaikalanathan and Shanakiya Rasamanickam presented their party’s views on an all-party Government to the President. 

The President’s Media Division said President Wickremesinghe informed the TNA MPs about the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution which has been gazetted and the Interim Budget to be presented to the Parliament on 9 August. 

Meanwhile, the President also met with the New Lanka Freedom Party led by Kumara Welgama and members of the Vijaya Dharani National Council including Athuraliye Ratana Thero. 

Negotiations between the Government and political parties to form an all-party Government commenced yesterday. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena was also in attendance during today’s meetings.
