The State of Public Emergency has been extended with effect from 28 February through an Extraordinary Gazette issued under the authority of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The notification, signed by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, formalises the continuation of emergency regulations across the country.
The proclamation has been made in terms of Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), as amended by Act No. 8 of 1959, Law No. 6 of 1978, and Act No. 28 of 1988.
Accordingly, the President has declared that the provisions contained in Part II of the Ordinance shall remain in force throughout Sri Lanka.
