President appoints first female Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed Prof. Sanjeewanie Ginigaddara as the new Vice Chancellor of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.

She is the seventh Vice Chancellor of the University and the first woman to hold the post.

Ginigaddara, who is a Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture of the Rajarata University was appointed by the President in accordance with the recommendations made by the University Grants Commission and the University’s Board of Governors regarding the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Ginigaddara is a researcher with a special focus on areas such as agricultural research and new technologies that are involved in a number of areas related to innovation, such as building a good relationship between the university and entrepreneurs.

She was also the Director of the Business Coordinating Office recently established at Rajarata University.

The new Vice Chancellor hopes to implement a number of objectives such as providing the best possible service to the University in the field of new research, knowledge and technology required by Rajarata entrepreneurs and agriculturists, and to develop a mechanism for maximum involvement of the graduates of Rajarata University in the development of the country.
