Police have arrested more than 120 foreign nationals during a raid at a location on Meda Welikada Road in Rajagiriya over the weekend, following intelligence on large-scale illegal financial transactions and related activities.
The suspects include individuals from several countries, including China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Madagascar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia, according to Police.
During the operation, officers seized a quantity of equipment, including laptops and mobile phones, which are to be subjected to forensic analysis as part of the investigation.
Preliminary inquiries indicate that the group had been operating from multiple floors of a rented apartment complex, conducting what Police described as a coordinated fraudulent operation.
Police said several suspects fled during the initial raid. Welikada Police have launched further investigations and are pursuing those who escaped.
