Police announces special security measures at churches

The Sri Lanka Police has announced special security measures for churches conducting religious observances in view of Easter Sunday.

The Police said special religious services are to be held today (18) and Sunday (20).

As such, the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya has instructed special Police security to be implemented for the safety of devotees.

The Acting IGP has instructed the Police to identify churches frequented by large crowds during this period and to tighten security in the area.

The Police, Special Task Force (STF), and tri-forces personnel are to be deployed to ensure security during Easter Sunday.
