Parliament to hold adjournment debate on Easter Sunday attack

The Committee on Parliamentary Business has announced that the Parliament will convene on 24, 25 and 26 April with a special focus on addressing the tragic events of the Easter Sunday attack. 

According to the Acting Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne the decision was made during a meeting chaired by Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse. On 24 April from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. the Parliament will debate the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill (Second Reading) and regulations under the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. 

Following this session, an Adjournment Debate on the Easter Sunday attack will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The agenda for 25 April includes the approval of two regulations under the Motor Traffics Act, notifications under the Excise Ordinance, an order under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act, and regulations under the Immigrants and Emigrants Act. 

The debate on the Easter Sunday attack will resume from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. continuing the focus on addressing the Easter Sunday attack, an Adjournment Debate will be held on 26 April from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., marking the third consecutive day of deliberations on the matter.
