Opp. renews calls for Govt. to step down

Opposition parties in parliament today renewed calls for the Government to step down with former President Maithripala Sirisena among those urging a change.

Sirisena who along with 40 SLPP MPs decided to sit in opposition today said that people have no faith in the Government and said changing the cabinet would not address the demands of the public.

JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanyaka and MP and former Minister Wimal Weerawansa also called on the Government of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa  to step while Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said the President too should step down.

They also lent support to  the  ongoing public protests and urged the Government to listen to the public demands.
