New Zealand High Commissioner Michael Appleton met with the State Finance Minister on Sunday and expressed his Government’s support for the ongoing recovery efforts in the country.
During the discussions, Minister Semasinghe extended his appreciation for the support provided by the New Zealand Government and updated on the measures taken to obtain the support of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the steps taken to try to reform the economy. They also explored the economic and political conditions in the country.
High Commissioner Appleton emphasised that the New Zealand Government will provide further support to Sri Lanka, including the necessary technical support on best practices and for the development of the country.
He also said the negotiations required for the purpose will continue.
The Customs Counsellor Brent Litherland and the Lead Advisor James Anderson also participated in the discussion.
