Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa commenced his visit to the UK with a visit to the London Buddhist Vihara, marking the temple’s centenary year. According to his office, he paid respects at the Vihara and received blessings from members of the Maha Sangha.
His planned speech at the Cambridge Union was later called off amid security concerns linked to anticipated protests. An address at the Oxford Union, along with a series of meetings with members of the Sri Lankan community in the UK, is expected to go ahead as scheduled.
