Namal granted bail in Krrish case but stays in remand

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday granted bail to Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa, who had been remanded in connection with the controversial Krrish transaction, and imposed an overseas travel ban on him.

Rajapaksa will, however, remain in remand custody because he has not secured bail in separate legal proceedings filed against him. He was remanded over allegations that he accepted a bribe of Rs. 100 million in exchange for allegedly facilitating the transfer of land at Transworks Square in Colombo Fort to the Krrish company for a multipurpose development

project.
