Motor Traffic Commissioner General further remanded

Motor Traffic Commissioner General Kamal Amarasinghe

The Motor Traffic Department Commissioner General Kamal Amarasinghe, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been further remanded till 20 April by the Pilessa Magistrate”s Court in Kurunegala.

The order was made when he was produced before the Kurunegala Pilaessa Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Amarasinghe was taken into custody by the CID on 27 March in connection with an investigation into alleged irregularities in vehicle registration.

According to the Police, he has been charged with aiding and abetting the fraudulent registration of a vehicle by altering the chassis number of a cab.
