Anura Kumara Dissanayake
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday said he held discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on the evolving situation in the Middle East, with particular focus on disruptions impacting global energy security.
In a message shared via X, Prime Minister Modi said the two leaders reviewed the implications of the escalating conflict in the Middle East and its ripple effects on fuel supplies and price stability worldwide.
“As close and trusted partners, we reaffirmed our commitment to work closely together in addressing shared challenges,” Modi stated.
In a separate statement issued by the President’s Media Division (PMD), it noted that the two leaders also discussed energy cooperation between India and Sri Lanka as well as matters relating to regional security.
The dialogue comes at a time when several countries, including Sri Lanka, are grappling with supply chain disruptions, delayed fuel shipments and heightened price volatility linked to the geopolitical crisis in the Middle East.
