Kusum Wijetilleke has been appointed Adviser on Political Economy to Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.

A former banker, Wijetilleke spent over 11 years in the banking industry in both Dubai and Sri Lanka, including nine years in corporate finance at DFCC Bank, where he worked with Sri Lanka’s largest corporate entities on project finance, working capital and trade facilities, and other financial products.

In addition to five years running two companies in the travel trade, Wijetilleke is also a writer, media presenter, and political commentator. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Kent.

Wijetilleke is a member of the Working Committee of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and serves as an adviser to the party and its leadership, having previously been a member of the SJB’s Foreign Relations Advisory Committee.
