The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Colombo has strongly condemned what it described as “savage military aggression” carried out by Israel and the US against Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Embassy alleged what it referred to as the “Zionist regime and US regime” of committing an unlawful and provocative act in violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations (UN).

“Such hostile actions, particularly at a sensitive diplomatic juncture, once again reveal the true nature of these regimes and their disregard for peace, stability, and constructive dialogue,” it added.

Reaffirming Tehran’s position, the Embassy noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserved its inherent right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter. It stated that Iran’s Armed Forces would deliver a “decisive response” to any act of aggression in defence of the country’s security, dignity and national interests.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Colombo also called upon all freedom-loving and independent countries of the world to strongly condemn these attacks and to express their solidarity in support of the principles of national sovereignty, non-interference, and respect for international law.

“While remaining committed to the preservation of regional stability, the Islamic Republic of Iran will resolutely defend its national interests and the security of its people,” the statement added.
