India hands over 134 single cabs worth Rs. 300 m for SL Police

The Government of India yesterday officially handed over 134 single-cab vehicles valued at Rs. 300 million to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for use by the Sri Lanka Police under the Indo-Sri Lanka Friendship Programme.

The ceremonial handover took place at the Presidential Secretariat, with the vehicles earmarked for deployment at Police stations in the Northern Province.

Speaking at the event, Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha said India remained committed to extending similar assistance to Sri Lanka in the future.

Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya presented a commemorative gift to the Indian High Commissioner in appreciation of the donation.

Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala, Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala, Ministry Secretary Ravi Seneviratne, DIMO General Manager Rajeev Pandithage, officials from the Indian High Commission and senior Sri Lanka Police officers were also present at the event.
