India has provided debt restructuring assurances directly to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reports said last night.
India’s gesture will pave the way for Sri Lanka to obtain the Extended Fund Facility soon. It is expected that China will also give assurances soon, reports added.
In response to reports, Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry in a tweet said: “Sri Lanka is fortunate to have great considerate and caring friends. With your support Sri Lanka will make a strong comeback. Thank you.”
