Hemasiri Fernando and IGP remanded till 3 Feb.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage yesterday extended the remand detention of former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara until 3 February. 

Fernando and Jayasundara were arrested on charges of criminal negligence and failure to prevent or minimise the damages caused by the Easter Sunday attacks last year.  

Fernando, Jayasundara and other senior officials in the security establishment were criticised along with former President Maithripala Sirisena in a Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) report which inquired in to the Easter Sunday attacks.
