President Anura Kumara Disanayake yesterday said the Government will introduce measures in the upcoming Budget to increase the allowance paid to teachers serving in rural schools.
Speaking at the 28th convention of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union, the President said the decision aims to ease the financial challenges faced by teachers working in difficult areas.
He said the proposal will be discussed with trade unions representing the teaching profession before finalisation.
