Govt. to modernise 100 cities as per sustainable development model

The Government announces plans yesterday to modernise 100 cities in the country under a sustainable development model.

It said several second and third level cities throughout the country are untidy, ugly and a disturbance to the public for a considerable time due to haphazard development while most of them can be converted public friendly, pleasant cities across taking necessary steps according to a proper plan. 

Therefore, the Cabinet of Ministers this week approved a resolution tabled by Prime Minister as the Minister of Urban Development and Housing for the implementation of a program called ‘Hundred Cities’. 

With the assistance of all the government sector institutions and other parties the program will see development of infrastructure facilities systematically in 100 selected cities.
