The Government is planning to prohibit the use of smartphones by schoolchildren under the age of 12, Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Paulraj said recently.
Speaking at an event attended by schoolchildren, the Minister said the Government intends to introduce measures to prevent children below 12 years from owning or using mobile phones.
She said the decision is aimed at protecting children from excessive screen exposure and harmful online content, while promoting healthier development and social interaction.
