Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has filed a writ petition before the Court of Appeal seeking an order restraining the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from arresting him in connection with ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
The petition names Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya, CID Director Shani Abeysekara and several other officials as respondents.
Rajapaksa has sought the intervention of the Court of Appeal amid continuing investigations related to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
The petition was filed through Attorney-at-Law Sanath Wijewardane.
The Court of Appeal is expected to consider the application and determine whether to grant the relief sought by the former President.
