Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared before the Court of Appeal yesterday as the court resumed hearing his writ petition seeking an order preventing his arrest and detention.
The petition came up for further consideration before a two-judge bench comprising Court of Appeal President Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya and Justice Sarath Dissanayake.
Rajapaksa was present in court to observe the proceedings.
The matter was last heard on 9 July, when the bench concluded a fourth consecutive day of hearings before adjourning the case until yesterday for further consideration.
Through the petition, Rajapaksa is seeking a writ preventing his arrest and detention.
The Court of Appeal is continuing to hear submissions in the matter.
